This explains what personal details Hiltra collects, why, and what you can ask me to do with them. It's written to be read, not skimmed past.
Who I am
Hiltra is the trading name of Anthony Hilton, a sole trader based in Hertfordshire, UK. I decide how your details are used, which makes me the "controller" under UK data protection law. You can reach me about anything on this page at contact@hiltra.co.uk.
What I collect
- When you use the contact form: your name, email address, what you need, your budget, how you'd like to talk, any number or messaging handle you choose to give, and your message.
- When you email me: your email address and whatever you write.
- If we work together: your contact and billing details, the project files and materials you share, and our messages about the work.
- When you visit the site: the company that hosts it keeps basic technical logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, so the site can run and stay secure. Fonts and code libraries load from Google Fonts, jsDelivr and cdnjs, which also see your IP address when your browser asks for them.
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking, and it doesn't build a profile of you.
Why I use your details
- To reply to you and give you a quote. This is at your request, before we agree any work.
- To do the work and invoice you. This is needed to carry out our agreement.
- To keep financial records. The law requires me to.
- To keep the website running and secure. This is in my legitimate interests, and it has very little effect on your privacy.
I won't send you marketing emails unless you ask me to, and I never sell or rent your details to anyone.
Who else handles them
Only the services I need to run the business:
- Vercel hosts this website.
- Web3Forms delivers contact form messages to my inbox.
- Zoho Mail runs my email.
- Payment providers, such as my bank or a card or crypto payment service, handle payments if you pay me.
Some of these companies store data outside the UK, for example in the United States. When that happens, it's covered by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.
How long I keep them
- Enquiries that don't go ahead: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Client records and invoices: as long as HMRC requires, which is currently at least five years after the 31 January tax return deadline for the year they relate to.
- Hosting logs: for the short period the hosting company keeps them.
Your rights
You can ask me to:
- send you a copy of the personal details I hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete your details, where I'm not required to keep them
- stop or limit how I use them, or object to how I use them
- send your details to you or someone else in a usable format
Email contact@hiltra.co.uk and I'll reply within one month. It's free.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your details, please tell me first so I can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If I change how I use personal details, for example by adding a booking system or a chat window to the site, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
